- Analyzing Your Data
- Example
Seeka TV provides you with two different ways to look at your data. The first way is built into the Seeka TV Creator Studio, but Seeka TV ultimately can never build out the analytics tools that Google has built. Thankfully, we can send your data in real time to Google Analytics to allow you to use those tools to look at your show's data.
The first thing to know is that Google Analytics is free! You just need to set up a Google Analytics account and give us your Google Analytics tracking ID.
Once we have your tracking ID, you'll be able slice and dice viewer data using Google's data analytics tools. You can track:
- How many times people have visited your "franchise page"
- How many times people have opened up an episode, trailer, or preroll for viewing
- How many times people have "play"ed the episode, trailer, or preroll
- How many seconds (in aggregate) an episode has been watched
- How many times viewers have paused and continued the play of your episodes
- How many times the episode has been "seen"
- How many times the episode has been completed
- How many times your show has been added to viewer watch lists
- How much money has been tipped to you
Setting Up Google Analytics
Google Analytics is a free analytics package from Google. You can sign up for it here. If you already have a Gmail or other kind of Google account, just sign in. Otherwise, create an account before signing up for Google Analytics.
Once you're signed into your Google account, click Access Google Analytics and sign up.
You'll need to fill in information about your "web site". Where it asks for a web site, enter https://watch.seeka.tv. The other information is entirely up to you. When you're done, there's a button at the bottom of the page that says "Get Tracking ID". Click it.
Your tracking ID starts with "UA-". For example, UA-12345678-1.
Enter that number into the Seeka TV Creator Studio Show Editor.
Advanced Setup
If you already have a Google Analytics account, you need to think about how you want the data from Seeka TV integrated with your other analytics.
As a Google Analytics user, you can set up multiple properties and apps with their own tracking IDs. You can further divide that data into different views.
Most people who already have a Google Analytics account will want to create a new "property" in their account just for Seeka TV. This will give you a second Google Analytics tracking ID specifically for your Seeka TV traffic.
You don't have to break up your Seeka TV traffic into a different tracking ID, but your Seeka TV data will end up mixed in with your web site tracking data.
